Ron Jensen
Ron Jensen paints using an expressionist style, enjoying the bright colors and semi-abstract shapes. Most paintings are done in oils on toned, stretched canvas using a limited palette. Oils are placed on the canvas using a "wet-in-wet" technique, often without mixing colors.
When Jensen paints portraits, he finds pleasure in the semi-abstract of a subject using heavy paints and bright colors. Often, eyes are purposely drawn on different levels and the nose elongated. There is serious effort to catch the personality.
A painter for forty years, Jensen grew up on a North Dakota farm where the family sat through many winter storms doing arts and crafts. He graduated from the University of North Dakota. Currently he lives in Hampton, VA where he is continuing studies of art at Thomas Nelson Community College.
