David Fletcher

David Fletcher creates“pit fired” pottery which is pottery that has been fired in an open bon-fire or primitive pit kiln. That is the pottery is buried in a pit with wood, sawdust and other flammable (or inflammable) substances. The pottery gains its décor through trapping carbon in the clay or gaining color from metal or other fumes.

David’s pottery is very reminiscent of American Indian pottery in that he is very careful to remain true to the pit firing technique.
