Ever since kindergarten, Deborah Ross remembers being in love with colors; a new box of crayons were the best gift to receive. Since then she has been involved with art in many ways and the most recent of those has been discovering what she can create with colored pencils. For the past several years, Ross has experimented with the pencils until she has found her own style. She feels that colored pencils have always been perceived as a child’s art material, and she has been determined to stretch the possibilities of colored pencils to the limit. Recently Ross has been fascinated by the reflections on her black granite topped table and she has used the reflections in most of her work. The colors she achieves are intense and glowing, looking more like paint than pencils. Ross has taken classes in several places and was an art major for her first year in college, but mostly she has learned by trial and error. |
